A guide to better questions

Material is one decision.
Fit is the whole picture.

Use this planning guide to connect material, surface and hardware preferences with your garments and setting. Available options need confirmation for each product and project.

The garment comes first

What will hang on it?

Record garment width, weight, straps and the contact surfaces that need attention. A material preference is only useful when the proposed shape also fits the garment.

  • Representative garment or sample
  • Requested width and shoulder profile
  • Bar, clip, notch or grip questions

Surface character

What should the finish communicate?

Bring a small, focused set of color and texture references. Identify whether a reference describes appearance or an exact physical standard, and confirm the proposed finish with a sample.

  • Physical color or texture reference
  • Consistency and variation to review
  • Care and surface-contact requirements

Hardware and details

Which parts need to work together?

Hook appearance, clearance, logo position and any bar or clip arrangement belong in the same specification. Confirm the compatibility of the proposed parts rather than assessing each in isolation.

  • Rail and hook clearance
  • Hardware tone and operating needs
  • Logo position and visible contact areas

Evidence and approval

What needs independent confirmation?

Name the required material information, tests or supporting documents. Do not infer a material grade, origin or certification from a photograph or a generic description.

  • Material and finish identification
  • Applicable document or test scope
  • Approved sample and specification version

Keep the sample review practical

See it with your own garment.

Check dimensions, shoulder shape, fabric contact, visible finish and hardware against the brief. Record observations and requested changes before approving the final sample.

Build a more useful reference pack.

Include garment measurements, a color reference, the wardrobe or rail setting and a short list of what matters most.
